We’re on our final week, but we are so ready @WeAreBCR

We’ve had a frantic, but fortunate week as #teamsanta enter the final week of what we do. It’s been a week of laughter, tears and on one occasion Morris dancing! 🙈

Huge thanks to our fabulous friends at Black Country Radio for helping us reach more potential donors than ever before, we are so grateful.

Current donations stand at 9887 but I’m sure we will smash 10,000 after a donation busting week and the promise of more donations next week. Thanks to Blaze Hair, Santa’s a gangster, Dudley Council staff and councillors, Dudley CAB, Catherine Wilday and her team from DWP, Brierley Hill Health & Social Care Centre and the many other lovelies who’ve dug deep and supported us. I will publish a full list of supporters, thank you Facebook posts etc next week and your Thank you cards will arrive eventually!

The number of lists is up this year and the number of children on the lists has climbed too, as word of what we do and the difference we make spreads.  We’ve sorted over 70 lists of children with individual presents, the majority of lists having an average of 20 children on them ! More to be collected this week. Numerous grotto presents have been given to groups who are doing their own Christmas parties and we’ve provided almost 50 gifts to a party for very special children who had a disability or life-limiting condition.

The elves have been amazing, putting in very long days with  special thanks to Rose and Trev for the past few days.  Visitors have arrived and only escaped after being conscripted into wrapping grotto presents 🙈

Hectic week with

  • party for 100 tomorrow
  • Court House carvery parties Monday and Tuesday (50+ each day )
  • more collections from organisations we are supporting
  • more sorting and wrapping of grotto presents
  • LIVE VW BEETLE CAR DRAW on Thursday night

So I think i can safely say we have had a phenomenal week at Operation Santa HQ.

1948 donations, new supporters via our friends at Black Country Radio and through our Facebook feed.

it’s been a week of monster shopping trips for gifts, sorting and organising the grotto ready for our first collections today. 16 lists of children so far and that’s just for now as we will have many more to come!

and more this Sunday.

Help us make sure no child thinks Santa has forgotten them! #catwalkforchristmas19

I think you will agree we have a great selection of shopping opportunities, alongside our own clothes, accessories and the terrific tombola!  With that and live entertainment, it should be a fantabulous evening.

Our Catwalk for Christmas is coming soon and we have lots of lovely treats in store for you for a mere £5 a ticket, every penny of which will go to providing Christmas cheer for local disadvantaged children and young people across Dudley borough.

Performances by Eloise Amelia, Bradley Stokes and Brierley Hill Musical Theatre Youth group

The first 50 guests will receive a free goody bag and a welcome glass of Bucks Fizz!

Plus a fabulous tombola as we have some wonderful prizes.

Why not plan a night out with your friends? You can find more info and buy tickets here on our Operation Santa Facebook page , by calling into the Dudley CVS offices, 9:30-4:30 at 7 Albion Street, Brierley Hill, DY5 3EE [tel 01384 573381] or on the door.

We have a new stall holder that will make you flutter and all for £5! #catwalkforchristmas

So we already had a great selection of lovely stall holders and now have one more!  Rachel Gresswell is sorting the catwalk for me this year and also offers eye-lash extensions as she runs BeaubellebeautyI think you will agree we will have a great selection of shopping opportunities, alongside our own clothes, accessories and the terrific tombola!  With that and live entertainment, it should be a fantabulous evening.

Panto feedback … did they have a good time? Oh yes they did!

We’ve just had some lovely feedback from a couple of children who came on the Operation Santa panto trip last month. This is what makes all our efforts worth it!

Our names are Amelia and Nathaniel and we would like to say thank you as we and everyone else invited to the panto had a really great time and fun evening. Some of our friends have never been to a panto and are now saying they would like to go again Thank you very much Amelia and Nathaniel and our friends

Making the magic happen with 13152 donations!

I’m so pleased that I have got a higher final donations total for 2018, after finding a note to myself and some help from Lee @VolksMagic over the weekend.  It was another amazing appeal and yet another success. Thanks to all you lovely people who supported us including the fantabulous Brett and the Blaze Angels, Lee, Billy and the Santa’s a Gangster crew, and of course my amazing elf team – Trev, Rose, Jayne, Sarah and of course Steve, whom we will be saying a sad farewell to at his funeral tomorrow.

Just in case you missed it, here is the full report from this year:

The boys went BIG and thank you Smyths Toys

A huge, huge thank you to the amazing group of guys who fundraise for Operation Santa all year and do an ENORMOUS toy shop at Smyths Toys each year.  They also fund a huge Christmas Party for 100 local children with a full Christmas lunch and entertainment too. What a bunch of absolute stars.

Today Simon, Mike, Carl and Jason gave up their Sunday with their families and were up at the crack of dawn to go to Smyths in Longridge, where the lovely Shane [Store Manager], arranged to open the store an hour earlier, so they could shop like VIP’s and gave them a 20% discount, plus some free toys. They had a huge shopping session, filling trolleys with the biggest presents they could find and there was so much it filled two large vans!  Bless them and their commitment to making a difference to local children who may otherwise think that Santa has forgotten them.  The toy of the day was the 6 foot long caterpillar chosen by Carl and the elves, and I are wondering quite how this could be wrapped!  Let’s just say it’s a good job we are extending into another room tomorrow as the grotto has never been this full ever!  Here are some photos of the boys in action, doing the ultimate Christmas shop!

It’s days like this that restore your faith in humanity :) #teamsanta #webelieve #faithhopeandlove #teamworkmakesthedreamwork

Today has been one of those amazing days that really lifts your spirits and it’s definitely in my top ten Operation Santa days ever!

Started the day at Grotto HQ sorting some lovely donations which had come and I found something I believed had been lost forever, so it was going really well. Then Lee and Billy popped into Grotto HQ with a van full of toys, a bike donated by a young lad and the BIGGEST cash donation in Operation Santa history = £3700 !!!!  After tears [mine], hugs all round and a great catch up, I’m still smiling.

This afternoon I had a lovely phone catch up with one of the elves and a welcome visit by an old friend, who’s only signed up as a lovely new elf volunteer and will be helping in Grotto HQ and with some of the Christmas meals.
